SSDI

Qualifying for Disability Benefits

Social Security Disability Insurance Eligibility

People who have worked and paid taxes into Social Security and are now unable to perform their job are eligible for SSDI. In order to collect these benefits, certain steps need to be taken.

Getting your SSDI benefits:

  1. Complete an application – Click here to fill one out online.
  2. Disability approval – The Social Security Administration will determine if your disability qualifies for SSDI
  3. Statement of earnings – A threshold must be met in the amount of Social Security taxes you have paid thus far.

In addition to filling out an application online, a phone call or visit to your local Social security office are two other ways for submission. Unfortunately, the application process can be confusing. Perhaps you have already followed these steps and have been denied Social Security Benefits. If you need help, Jerry Sisk can assist. The emotional strain from your disability is stress enough. Contact Jerry today, and let the professionals worry about the legal issues.

Jerry will be with you every step of the way. From taking the necessary steps during the application process to appealing your denied case and taking it to the court hearing. To get started call 855-354-2667 or fill out the form at the bottom of this page. It’s time you get the benefits you deserve.

SSDI FAQ

Do I need an SSDI lawyer?
The process of obtaining SSDI benefits is not an easy road. When you hire Jerry, he will review your qualifications, medical records, and work history. Rest assured that all of the appropriate and necessary information will be attached to your application. If you have already been denied, assistance can be provided at both the reconsideration level and hearing level.
How much will it cost for a SSDI lawyer?
No fee will be charged unless your benefits are granted. Federal law states that no more than 25% of past owed benefits (up to a maximum of $6000) can be charged as a fee. Your fees will be outlined in detail when you sign a retainer.
Do I qualify for SSDI?
To meet the criteria for eligibility, you must have worked and paid social security taxes at a certain amount. Of course, your status must also be determined as disabled by the Social Security Administration. If you are over the age of 31, you need to work at least five years out of a ten year period ending with the quarter the disability began. If you are younger than 31, the requirements are a little more complicated.
How does the SSA determine eligibility?
The SSA follows a set of guidelines to determine if you are eligible for benefits. Such as if you are currently working and if your medical condition is considered severe. This condition should be on their list of impairments. Also, your ability to continue doing the same tasks as before or any other type of work is factored into the decision.
